Caught Tiny House Nation's Halloween challenge on fyi,. Three professional designers were subcontracted to transform three tiny houses into a witch's lair, a mad scientist's lab, and a circus horror freak sideshow, and the community members were asked to vote for the best decor. The mad scientist's lab won.
The flaw of this challenge was in encouraging the designers to employ ideas and materials that "you can do in your own house". As a result, the overall effect was a hodgepodge of grade-school art projects and amateurish work. I even suspect that the mad scientist's lab won because it was the hardest to replicate.
Real decor, especially professionally made decor, is naturally expensive and difficult to achieve. Professionals are also never subjected to tight deadlines. They need not only creative space but creative time as well. Otherwise you don't bring out the best in them.
