"House for Sale", Night of Saturday, September 30, 2017

This is a recurring dream; I have dreamt variations of it at least three times in the past.

There is an old house across EDSA that is inhabited by adult siblings. The house has been used as a home and an office at various times. The owners now want to sell it, and are considering several potential buyers.

Jeff and I decide to go and look at the house. It must have been built in the 60s and augmented with minor structures, because it has a patchwork look to it. From our side of EDSA there is a huge iron pipe that travels all the way to the lot where the house stands; it is either a conduit for electric power or water, or is a drainage pipe.

Jeff and I cross EDSA and enter the house. We are greeted by the brothers and sisters who own it. An unused, clunky, iron basketball goal is a meter into the main gate, and spans the immediate interior of the house. I'm thinking that whoever buys the house will have to incur a lot of expenses to make practical and aesthetic changes.

One of the sisters of the family sails in from a community project she has been working on. She looks like a socialite and is vaguely familiar, but I still cannot place who she is in real life. She greets all of us and tells us all about her project.

The matter of the house for sale is momentarily brushed aside as we converse about the family's affairs.

My Commentary:

Jeff is in this dream because he represents a person who wishes to "purchase a house", i.e., obtain a new status that he can work on and improve. This is my dream, however, and I interpret this as a subconscious desire to have a change in status and make major changes in it myself. While others may perceive me as someone who has obtained everything they themselves want to obtain, I dream of obtaining other things, facing other challenges, and having more accomplishments that other people are unable to imagine. Indeed, one is never satisfied with what one already has and sets his eyes on what he still does not have.

The family that owns the house and the community-oriented sister indicate that I will not be comfortable with whatever changes I want, because they will entail dealing with people I do not enjoy dealing with.
