When you light vigil candles in bottles for All Souls Day, do not move or touch them once lit, otherwise they will die out and be utterly useless halfway through.

If possible, light one vigil candle in a bottle for every loved one who has passed away. As long as you touched none of them, you will see which candles were completely consumed afterward. Those indicate which of your loved ones are active spirit guides who continue to watch over and care for the family.
